Demos

As promised, a collection of song demos that I found on the dozen or so tapes I had lying around. Please bear in mind that, since these are demos, they are even more unprofessional and unfinished than the rest of my stuff. That’s my excuse, anyway.

Oh, and I did a cover of sorts:

One (download)
Running Time: 2:32
Approximate date of recording: Post-2002
Notes: Well, it’s a song. I remember nothing about this one.

Two (download)
Running Time: 4:27
Approximate date of recording: 2000
Notes: This one I do vaguely remember. I’m also slightly fond of it; I may yet return to this and polish it up.

Three (download)
Running Time: 1:39
Approximate date of recording: 2002
Notes: As with the last one, something I might revisit. It’s pretty much just the one riff, I guess, but I like the riff.

Four (download)
Running Time: 0:27
Approximate date of recording: 2002
Notes: Speaking of riffs…

Five (download)
Running Time: 52
Approximate date of recording: 2003
Notes: Maybe I should try to combine all these orphaned riffs into one epic song.

Six (download)
Running Time: 4:38
Approximate date of recording: 2001
Notes: At last, a proper song! I rather like it. Needs a better recording though.

Seven (download)
Running Time: 2:33
Approximate date of recording: 2003
Notes: Some good ideas here and there, but kind of meh. Story of my life.

Eight (download)
Running Time: 4:48
Approximate date of recording: 2002
Notes: Another proper song. I really like some of the riffs here, but it desperately needs to be recorded with a better guitar sound; here, it’s just hopelessly weak. And no, I don’t believe in playing on the correct beat.

Nine (download)
Running Time: 5:13
Approximate date of recording: 2003
Notes: This is a “demo” of “Indecision.”  I say “demo” because it may or may not be the exact same recording with a slightly different mix.

Ten (download)
Running Time: 1:35
Approximate date of recording: 2003
Notes: I don’t know what happens to the rhythm partway through. I’d blame sunspots, but this doesn’t seem like their style. In general, I’m fond of this one.

Eleven (download)
Running Time: 3:30
Approximate date of recording: 2000
Notes: Pleasant enough.

Twelve (download)
Running Time: 2:45
Approximate date of recording: 2002
Notes: See above.

Thirteen (download)
Running Time: 2:43
Approximate date of recording: 2001
Notes: Aside from the fact that it doesn’t really go anywhere, I like it.

As you can probably tell, I’m not terribly invested in most of these. I have little to no recollection of writing or recording most of them, but I have been pleasantly surprised by many of them while going back through my tapes. I’ll probably rework a number of these into newer, better form.
